And evadishes is my little corner of the internet!
I'm the voice, author, and creator behind evadishes. What started as a simple food journal in 2016 while I was working as a graphic designer for a marketing agency in Portland, Oregon, turned into a full‑time blog in July 2017. I posted my first recipe—roasted‑red‑pepper hummus—on a rainy Tuesday, and the comments started rolling in. Today evadishes gets about 120,000 unique visits each month, and the recipe library has grown to over 340 recipes, including vegan, gluten‑free, and comfort classics.
I live in Asheville, North Carolina with my husband, Mark, and two rescue cats, Luna and Basil. Our house sits on a tree‑lined street just a block from the River Arts District, so I can wander to the farmers market every Saturday for fresh herbs and local cheese. When I'm not in the kitchen, you'll find me hiking the Blue Ridge or kneading sourdough on Sunday afternoons. My top three favorites are a good cup of cold brew, the sound of rain against the window, and the first bite of a perfectly crisp apple.
One of my most memorable moments was cooking live on air for WNC Radio in June 2022, when I guided listeners through a three‑course meal using only ingredients from the farmers market. The response was so warm that I added a weekly newsletter in January 2023, and it now reaches 15,000 subscribers. I also started a YouTube channel in April 2023; we have over 45,000 subscribers and the most‑viewed video is my chocolate lava cake, which has 2.3 million views. If you scroll down the site, you'll find a printable index with more than 350 recipes, organized by season, diet, and skill level.
